DISH Network LLC and Dell Technologies Inc. today announced the launch of America’s first radio access network 5G edge infrastructure, powered by Dell devices. This cloud-native network will cover 75% of the U.S. population by June 2023, making it the first nationwide coverage of its kind. The joint venture was driven by a common goal – to deliver fast, reliable and low latency performance with advanced security features, enterprise-level scalability and industry best customer service support across all 5G deployments in the United States. DISH chose Dell for its extensive resources, experienced customer service, and ability to get the project done quickly. The two companies believe that combining their expertise in advanced software practices from Dell with telco experience from DISH will create an unparalleled 5G experience for customers looking for secure and high-speed connectivity across large distances in both rural and urban areas of the United States. Through a 5G wireless network built on edge infrastructure, customers can enjoy increased speed for activities such as streaming content or large file transfers over long distances.
Speaking about their collaboration, DISH Chief Technology Officer Dave Mayo said: “We look forward to working together to build a robust 5G infrastructure that will bring fast internet speeds to the majority of Americans.” Meanwhile, Tom Keirstead, CTO at Dell Technologies added: “Today’s milestone is only possible due to our expansive reach within this incredibly dynamic industry.” The positive effects this initiative will have on American users go beyond just faster speeds over longer distances – with potential applications in areas such as IoT connected vehicle development, wireless healthcare technologies entering digital markets or even retail businesses benefit from improved security features when moving data through tablets or smartphones on an efficient connection with minimal latency delays. With one unified network covering 75% of U.S citizens by June 2023, customers over a wide geographic range now have access to advanced internet technologies made available at unprecedented speeds – ultimately changing how they interact with the internet on a larger scale than ever before.
This milestone is just one example of how O-RAN technology is transforming wireless networks around the world, and it shows promise for even more advanced developments in the near future. By leveraging both companies’ expertise in software development, network engineering and customer service, DISH and Dell are quickly establishing themselves as leading innovators in the 5G market. The collaboration of both companies has already changed the way that customers interact with their internet connection and is sure to have a lasting effect on many aspects of American life for years to come.
